HP New Cluster at University of Kentucky

A new Intel 64 bit Xeon processor cluster with 248 CPU’s is installed at University of Kentucky. The architecture of the Xeon cluster is shown and discussed. The lattice QCD Monte Carlo program and overlap fermion program, including huge matrix SIGN Function calculation, are parallelized on this Xeon cluster by using MPI message passing Interface. As well as, these programs are tested on the new cluster. The running results are compared with Oak Ridge IBM-SP Supercomputer. The new Intel SSE3 technique is discussed and tested.
